Tip Us

Media Grid UK welcomes tips from the public, whistle-blowers, industry experts and anyone with information that serves the public interest. Our Editor-in-Chief, Jonathan Pierce, holds ultimate responsibility for all editorial decisions, including the handling of tip submissions. The site is owned and operated by Sliema Media Limited, registered in Malta (company number C 84217), with its registered office at Level 3, Tower Business Centre, Tower Street, Swatar, Birkirkara BKR 4013, Malta. All tips are processed under the oversight of our Standards & Fact-Checking Lead, Oliver Reeves, who ensures that every submission is treated with the rigour it deserves.

Who is responsible for tip submissions and how is Media Grid UK funded?

Jonathan Pierce, as Editor-in-Chief, has ultimate editorial authority over all tip-related content. Media Grid UK is owned by Sliema Media Limited, a Maltese-registered company, and is funded through display advertising, affiliate links, commercial partnerships, sponsored content, newsletter sponsorships and content licensing. Sponsored or commercial material is always clearly labelled, and affiliate links are disclosed. Commercial relationships never determine editorial conclusions. Full details of our ownership and funding model are available on our ownership and funding page.

Our newsroom operates independently of these revenue streams. Rebecca Haines, Managing Editor, oversees daily newsroom workflow, including the allocation of tip to the appropriate desk. Thomas Grant, Politics & Public Affairs Editor, handles tips related to Westminster and policy; Amelia Foster, Business & Economy Correspondent, covers business and markets; Sophie Lane, Culture & Lifestyle Editor, reviews submissions on culture and society. Every tip that passes initial review is assigned to a named writer, who drafts the article under editorial supervision.

What makes a good tip for Media Grid UK?

A strong tip for Media Grid UK is one that has clear UK relevance, is exclusive or under-reported, and is supported by verifiable evidence. We welcome submissions on policy developments at Westminster or in devolved administrations, public-interest stories that affect ordinary people, business news including corporate activity and market movements, technology developments with regulatory or social impact, and culture or lifestyle angles that connect to broader societal issues.

Tips should be concrete rather than speculative. For example, a leaked government document about upcoming legislation, a whistle-blower account of malpractice in a public body, or original data showing a business trend would all be of interest. We are less likely to pursue vague allegations, personal grievances or stories that have already been widely covered by other outlets. If you are unsure whether your tip fits, send it to us anyway; our editors will assess its merits.

How can you submit a tip to us?

Send your tip to tips@mediagriduk.uk for general tips, newsdesk@mediagriduk.uk for breaking news or time-sensitive stories, and press@mediagriduk.uk for press releases and official announcements. Include as much context as possible: the core facts, relevant documents or evidence, your contact details (if you are willing to be contacted), and any deadlines or confidentiality concerns you have.

If you are submitting documents, please describe what they contain and explain why they are significant. For anonymous submissions, we recommend using a secure method – you do not need to provide your real name, but including a way for us to follow up (such as a secure messaging account) can help us verify your information. We read all submissions, but due to volume we cannot guarantee a personal reply to every tip. If your tip is selected for investigation, a member of our newsroom will be in touch.

How do we verify tips and ensure accuracy?

Our Standards & Fact-Checking Lead, Oliver Reeves, oversees the verification process. Every tip that enters the editorial pipeline is cross-checked against multiple independent sources, official records, and – where possible – original documents. We never publish a story based on a single anonymous source without corroboration. Our full approach to sourcing and verification is set out on our Sources & Standards and fact-checking policy pages.

During verification we may contact you for further details, request additional documentation, or ask you to speak with an editor. We treat all communications with confidentiality – we will not disclose your identity without your explicit consent, unless required by law. If you wish to remain anonymous, we will take steps to protect your identity, though you should be aware that complete anonymity can limit our ability to corroborate information. Our editorial policy explains our standards for source protection.

What happens after you submit a tip?

Your tip is logged and triaged by the managing editor, Rebecca Haines, who assigns it to the most relevant editor. For example, a story about a new Treasury policy would go to Thomas Grant; a tip about a corporate scandal would be handled by Amelia Foster. The editor reviews the tip against our editorial criteria and, if promising, begins preliminary verification. You may be contacted for more details. If the tip does not meet our standards, it will not progress further.

We aim to acknowledge receipt of all tips within five working days, but this is not always possible for high volumes. If your tip leads to publication, we will inform you in advance and, with your permission, credit you as a source (unless you request anonymity). Unused tips are not stored indefinitely; we retain only those that are active or under consideration. For information on data handling, see our privacy policy.

How can corrections be submitted?

If you believe a published article contains an error, please send details to corrections@mediagriduk.uk. Our corrections process is governed by our corrections policy, which requires us to correct factual mistakes promptly and to publish a notice of correction on the article. We take all correction requests seriously and investigate them thoroughly before making any changes.

When submitting a correction, include the article URL, the specific error you have identified, and any supporting evidence. The corrections team, led by Oliver Reeves, reviews each request within three working days and responds with the outcome. If we decide not to correct, we will explain our reasoning. We also welcome complaints about editorial standards; these should be directed to complaints@mediagriduk.uk and will be handled under our complaints procedure.
