Editorial Policy

Media Grid UK (mediagriduk.uk) is an independent digital news publisher owned and operated by Sliema Media Limited, registered in Malta (Malta Business Registry company number C 84217). Editorial responsibility rests with Editor-in-Chief Jonathan Pierce, who oversees all editorial standards, publication decisions and corrections. This page explains how our journalism is produced and how we maintain transparency with readers.

Who is responsible for editorial standards?

The Editor-in-Chief, Jonathan Pierce, holds ultimate responsibility for the editorial content published on Media Grid UK. He ensures that every article meets our standards of accuracy, fairness and independence before publication.

Jonathan Pierce oversees the newsroom and is supported by a dedicated editorial team. Managing Editor Rebecca Haines runs the daily newsroom and coordinates headline review and commissioning. Thomas Grant, Politics & Public Affairs Editor, leads coverage of Westminster and policy. Amelia Foster, Business & Economy Correspondent, covers the economy and cost of living. Sophie Lane, Culture & Lifestyle Editor, handles culture and society. Oliver Reeves, Standards & Fact-Checking Lead, supervises source verification and corrections. All editors and writers are named on every article and can be contacted via their email addresses listed on our Our Team page.

How is Media Grid UK owned and funded?

Media Grid UK is owned by Sliema Media Limited, a company registered in Malta (company number C 84217) with its registered office at Level 3, Tower Business Centre, Tower Street, Swatar, Birkirkara BKR 4013, Malta. Our funding comes from display advertising, affiliate links, commercial partnerships, sponsored content, newsletter sponsorships and content licensing.

All sponsored or commercial material is clearly labelled as such, and any affiliate links are disclosed in the relevant articles. Commercial relationships never determine editorial conclusions. For full details, see our Ownership & Funding and Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure pages.

What is our editorial process for each article?

Every article on Media Grid UK is drafted by a named writer, reviewed by an editor and fact-checked before publication. This process applies to all content, whether news, opinion, features or analysis.

Writers are assigned stories based on their expertise and are required to verify all facts, attribute sources and provide relevant context. The reviewing editor checks for accuracy, clarity, tone and compliance with our standards. The fact-checking team, led by Oliver Reeves, independently verifies key claims and sources before an article goes live. We maintain a Fact-Checking Policy that details our methodology and the steps we take to correct errors if they occur after publication.

How do we distinguish news, opinion, features, sponsored and affiliate content?

News articles report facts without editorial bias. Opinion pieces, including columns and comment articles, are clearly labelled with the word ‘Opinion’ or ‘Comment’ and reflect the views of the author, not the publication. Features provide in-depth exploration of a topic. Sponsored content is marked with a prominent disclosure, and any article containing affiliate links includes a note at the top or bottom of the page.

Our editorial team maintains a strict separation between editorial and commercial operations. Sponsored content is produced in collaboration with advertisers but is always reviewed by an editor to ensure it meets our transparency standards. Affiliate links are used only when they genuinely support the reader’s interest and are never allowed to influence the editorial direction of a story. For more detail, see our Sponsored Content Policy.

What is our policy on AI and automation?

AI-assisted tools may support research, drafting, formatting, translation, metadata, headline options, summaries and transcription, but they never replace human editorial judgement. Every piece of published editorial content is reviewed and approved by a human editor.

We do not use AI to fabricate quotes, sources, interviews, bylines, author experience or expert profiles. Any use of AI tools is disclosed internally and, where appropriate, noted in the article’s metadata. Our full approach is outlined in the AI & Automation Policy.

How can readers request a correction or make a complaint?

Readers who believe an article contains an error or who have a complaint about our editorial content should contact the Editor-in-Chief via the formal complaints procedure. This ensures that every issue is reviewed promptly and independently.

Corrections and complaints can be sent to corrections@mediagriduk.uk or via the contact form on our website. We commit to acknowledging receipt within two working days and to investigating thoroughly, with a substantive response within 10 working days. The Complaints Procedure page sets out the full process, including escalation to external bodies if necessary.

Our commitments

  • To maintain full editorial independence from commercial, political or personal interests.
  • To ensure every article is fact-checked and reviewed by an editor before publication.
  • To clearly label all sponsored, affiliate and opinion content so readers can make informed judgements.
  • To use AI tools transparently and with human oversight, never to replace editorial responsibility.
  • To respond promptly and openly to corrections and complaints, with a clear route for escalation.
